Identifying the consumer need
Ascot Diamonds, a leader in diamond jewelry for decades, noticed a recurring challenge among its clients: engagement rings lose their sparkle due to everyday exposure to soap, lotion, makeup, and food. No at-home solution could deliver a deep, professional-grade clean, leaving consumers dependent on costly professional services.
To address this gap, Ascot Diamonds partnered with Nottingham Spirk. Our challenge was to transform their initial concept into a product that seamlessly combined professional-level performance with the elegance expected of a luxury brand. The objective was straightforward but ambitious: develop an at-home jewelry cleaner that surpasses existing devices in both efficacy and user experience.
Developing a first-of-its-kind solution
Developing GemOasis from concept to commercialization, Nottingham Spirk’s multidisciplinary team explored multiple cleaning technologies, rapidly prototyped designs, and rigorously tested each iteration to ensure superior performance and ease of use. Through an iterative refinement process, we engineered a patented dual-action system that integrates pulsating brushes with an ultrasonic soak — an innovation that extends far beyond traditional ultrasonic cleaners. In addition to a ring holder, a removable basket holds earrings, necklaces, and other jewelry for cleaning.
Design aesthetics were carefully considered, ensuring that GemOasis reflected the premium quality and sophistication of the Ascot brand while remaining intuitive and user-friendly.
The design team also created the branding and packaging. From visual identity to unboxing, every detail was crafted to align with the luxury positioning of the product and enhance the overall consumer experience.
The result
The outcome is the GemOasis Sonic Jewelry Cleaner, delivering professional-grade diamond care at home. Pulsating soft brushes thoroughly remove grime and oils from even the most hard-to-reach areas, while the ultrasonic bath gently restores brilliance and sparkle. By combining these capabilities, GemOasis offers a level of cleaning that goes well beyond conventional at-home solutions, allowing consumers to maintain their jewelry safely, effectively, and effortlessly.
