EyeCheq Kiosk
Connected & IoT, Medical Devices
Revolutionizing eye care with the world’s first AI-driven, fully autonomous kiosk that offers fast, accurate vision screenings at no cost to the consumer

Rethinking eye health access
The EyeCheq kiosk is an autonomous, AI-enabled unit designed for deployment in pharmacies, clinics, labs, retail health settings, and health system waiting areas. It combines cutting-edge vision screening tools with intelligent design to deliver a seamless and secure user experience, at no cost to the consumer.
A new model for non-diagnostic eye screening
The EyeCheq kiosk provides non-diagnostic vision assessments and wellness screenings for adults aged 21 and over. These screenings are designed to identify potential vision concerns and guide users to appropriate follow-up care. Each session is intuitive and takes only a few minutes, requiring no direct staff supervision.
Screening modalities include:
- Visual acuity assessment — Objective measurement of visual clarity
- Autorefraction — AI-guided, automated refractive error measurement
- Retinal imaging — Non-mydriatic, high-resolution fundus photography
- Eye symptom checker — Guided questionnaire for triage support
Collected data are securely transmitted and, where appropriate, routed for asynchronous interpretation by licensed eye care professionals. Users receive a summary of findings with clear educational prompts and suggested referrals, when necessary, for in-person follow-up with optometrists or ophthalmologists.

Detached from its kiosk and outfitted with a stand, EyeCheq converts to tabletop display.
Designing an inclusive experience
While technology is key to EyeCheq’s success, it is designed with the user in mind.
The design team employed augmented reality and human factors design to optimize the kiosk’s form to a compact 3-ft-square footprint. It’s not just small—it’s smart. It features automatic height adjustment using AI detection, ensuring accurate screenings while providing comfort and accessibility for all users, including those in wheelchairs.
Meanwhile, the UX/UI team focused on designing an inclusive user experience for people with low vision, language barriers, or varying cognitive abilities. Users interact with the kiosk via a tablet-sized touchscreen, with visual and audio cues guiding them through each step of the testing process.
Secure, scalable, and validated
Prototype testing yielded overwhelmingly positive user feedback, with participants citing convenience, ease of use, and the power of a free screening tool in trusted settings. For many, it was the first eye screening they had ever received.
“This could really help people like my dad, who hasn’t had his eyes checked in years,” said Luis, a college student and early tester.
“No appointments, no hassle—just quick, quality care,” said Maya, a retail manager who completed her test in under five minutes.
A vision made real
With Nottingham Spirk’s deep experience in healthcare and consumer product innovations, and EyeCheq’s clinical insight and AI expertise, this collaboration marks a bold new chapter in equitable, tech-enabled preventive care.
Together, we're not just screening eyes—we’re reshaping healthcare delivery, one community at a time.
*Note: The EyeCheq kiosk is not intended to diagnose or treat any disease or condition. All results are for preliminary, informational purposes only. Users are advised to follow up with a licensed provider for formal evaluation and care.
